The Crew

We're here to teach, train and race the boat whilst you have the opportunity to get as involved as you like

Lance Shepherd

Skipper
Lance comes from an outstanding sailing background. He started sailing in the scouts (too many years ago to count), joined the Marines, worked on the Lytham lifeboats and then moved to the Solent teaching for Sunsail and UKSA. In 2017/18 he skippered the Clipper Round the World Race on the Liverpool boat, circumnavigating with a team of amateur sailors.

Lance is the driving force behind Fearless Projects, developing the mantra of allowing the crew to learn and develop in all areas of the race.

Claire Fulton

Claire grew up sailing on the west coast of Scotland. She circumnavigated the world on the Clipper Round the World Race and reigniting her love of sailing. Having worked in events and hospitality for over 20 years, Claire is excited to combine both these worlds.

Jon Nabney

Nabs starting sailing at the tender age of 4, so was born and bred racing on the Solent. He has over 10 years experience as a professional skipper, with numerous Cowes Week and RTI class victories. He has strong tactician and navigational skills and excellent teaching experience - so can guide you through the 'brains' behind the sailing. He also comes equipped with his own personal wind vane, with his gorgeous locks of flowing hair.

James MacFee

James' sailing medical training earned him the nickname 'Doctor Dreamboat' but he's not just a pretty face. He was raised in the Caribbean and after an illustrious career as a chartered accountant, he saw the light (on the waves) and has since logged over 50,000 nms in offshore racing. His cv includes a season in Bosun role on 188ft racing schooner “Adela”. He is Yacht Master Offshore commercially endorsed and is a CYA dinghy instructor.

Nano Antía

Nano was born in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He began surfing at the age of 8 and was a professional swimmer until 18, being the Uruguaian champion in 50,100 and 200 butterfly. He stopped swimming professionally when he went to University and then embarked on a career as an accountant. When he was 27 he quit his job, rented his house, sold his car and started seeking a life at sea. He has gained over 50,000 nms and is Yacht Master Offshore qualified.
