Don't just take out word for it...
Fearless Projects was born from a love for sailing and the ambition to make it a sport that is accessible to everyone, from all walks of life. Watching people grow, develop and thrive on the experience is our passion.
It has been a real pleasure to step onboard with Claire and Lance who both are very experienced sailors. You get to do everything on the boat if you wish to, from driving to hoisting the spinnaker and much more... Lance is very patient, very calm and a very good teacher. He will answer all of your questions if you feel like you want to know the boat upside down.
Claire is in charge of the navigation and comes up on deck when needed for technical gybes and other manoeuvres. Plus she is the one that makes the good vibe on the boat as she’s always laughing.
On the top of that they take care of you so well all along the trip, the vibe onboard was really nice. Everything is taken care of for you, from food provisioning, meals onboard, foulies... everything is ready when you jump onboard, so literally there to enjoy and sail this beautiful VOR70.
You will go from one place to another very safely and sound and will enjoy everything about it.
Definitely an experience I would come back for.
Chris and I raced and trained this season on Kraken culminating in doing the Fastnet race. It has been a remarkable experience for both of us.
We talk about it constantly each time we raced we came home buzzing, for me in particular it has been a huge challenge overcoming my difficulties of recent years, it is physically exactingly and mentally challenging, you get tired and boy do I get sea sick, but that can all be overcome. It’s all about will power, rising to a challenge such as this puts life into perspective, Chris and I highly recommend any of our friends to rise to the challenge it has been a fabulous journey.
I sailed with Kraken on the 2019 Fastnet, having previously completed the St Malo race with them and one training weekend, over the course of four weeks.
By the time we did the Fastnet I felt like I had been sailing with these guys over a couple of years. The spirit of fun and laughter as well as serious endeavour was perfect. I have completed three Fastnet and associated race campaigns on many different boats. I really wanted to have a feel for big boat racing, and Kraken is perfect. I would undertake far more with them if I had more time, as they have an inclusive and varied schedule. There is lots to learn and perfect on every trip with Kraken, I won’t be sailing offshore with anyone else!
A quick note to say thank you for the brilliant experience that I had during the five-day "mile builder". Taking the helm on such a state of the art yacht was a true thrill, not just because of the speeds achieved. The experienced skipper, Lance, gave fantastic guidance throughout, and I always felt safe.
My great experience wasn't just restricted to the yacht - the crew showed us the Navigation, Catering and the Watch System, which gave us all a look into the tough lives of an ocean-racing crew. Claire and Jon took great care of us and we appreciated their patience!
We then had a magnificent "run ashore". The other clients on the trip clearly shared my enjoyment and enthusiasm for Kraken and her crew.
Whilst pondering whether to do the Fastnet race, I found Kraken and what a great find!
You couldn’t meet a nicer group of people to go racing with. From my first communication with them to the first race and all that came thereafter, they are a joy - helpful and answer all those ‘stupid questions’.
There are very few opportunities to sail a yacht such as Kraken a Volvo Open70, she is a speed monster which is absolutely thrilling.
These guys are open to all, whether your 17 or 70+ they’ll welcome you aboard with open arms and enthusiasm.
I enjoyed my experience on Kraken and her crew so much that I raced with them again on the Cherbourg race and will be sailing with them again soon too.
Out of this world amazing. I can’t speak highly enough of it. The crew were patient with me, considering the experience level I had (none).
I’d also give a mention to how friendly they were outside of ‘business hours’, so to speak, with beers and a dinner out. They made an effort to get us all involved.
No question seemed too stupid and they always took time with me. Walked away with a massive smile on my face and the bug!!
I have been lucky to have completed two trips on Kraken now, a 5 day mile builder and I also helped to deliver her home from the Fastnet. I was looking for a racing yacht experience to get back into sailing and I was so happy to find the Volvo 70 experience with Lance and Claire. I love these guys - from the moment of arrival you’re welcomed into the Kraken family both on-board and quayside. An amazing experience on a true round the world ocean racing yacht. Whatever your skill level, I cant recommend it highly enough. Without exaggeration it has been a life changing experience for my future sailing endeavours (just don’t tell work!) and I will be joining Kraken a lot more in 2020.
Absolutely incredible! What a boat that is! And the crew were all top notch too, overall a fantastic experience and very glad I went!
An awesome boat with an awesome crew. This trip is suitable for almost all levels of sailor. If you have a full, or nearly full, complement of 10 then there's plenty of people and you can do as little or as much work as you like. The food is basic but there's plenty of it. Where else can you sail a 10 million euro racing yacht?
Absolutely fantastic time doing the mile builder. Brilliant team, lots of laughs.
