3 Reasons to go sailing with your team.

Of course you want to be the best boss ever - you won't achieve that by sending your team on another day full of ice breakers and worksheets. How about giving them the opportunity to learn a new skill while experiencing some adrenaline and fresh air as you compete to battle for the title of fastest race team onboard Telefonica Black. If you are not already sold, here are three more reasons why you should take your team sailing.

1. You will build a sense of team and trust

Operating a 70ft racing yacht is not a one man job, it will take your entire team working together to hoist sails, trim, navigate and helm to get some speed going. To do this you all must communicate and work together to make sure everything is done to complement each other. Everyone’s job is important and you will all depend on each other to keep things going smoothly as the wind changes.

Spending the whole day on board means you can all try out the different positions and share your knowledge with each other as you pass along your jobs - and don’t worry if you cant remember everything our team will be there to guide you along and keep you safe.

2. Encourage healthy competition

As part of your team building day you will use your newly acquired skills to take on a challenge. Your team will sail a preset course where you can compete against previous teams for the best time. This definitely brings out the competitive edge as you work together to tack and gybe around the cans, making the boat build speed as you go.

You will witness your team grow in confidence as they manage to improve each evolution with every practice. There will be lots to compare back in the office.

3. Revels hidden talents

With such a variety of people taking part in sailing and with no special skills required people often surprise themselves at the things they are capable of. Your team will have the opportunity to perfect their leadership skills, communication ability and organisation as you get to grips with the running of the boat. These skills can all be brought back to the office and applied to a wide variety of situations.

You will be happy to hear that no prior sailing experience is required from any of your team as our professional team will be on board for the duration of your trip to help and guide you where we can. We will go at a pace the team is comfortable with and each individual can do as much or as little as they wish.

Just get in touch to get your team building adventure started - your team will thank you for it!
